VICINI DI CASA - NEIGHBORS. Housing empowerment and intercultural proximity
The project
VICINI DI CASA - NEIGHBORS. Housing Empowerment and Intercultural Proximity aims to promote the social inclusion of migrants and refugees who have exited institutional reception pathways in the Fidenza Social-Health District. The initiative focuses on fostering housing empowerment to support the acquisition of autonomy, while encouraging participatory community practices.
The program targets beneficiaries with varying levels of autonomy and diverse needs, providing flexible, modular responses tailored to the objectives outlined in individualized projects. These projects are designed and monitored using a participatory and integrated approach. The initiative is structured around three key components:
- Measures to support housing integration and autonomy: activation of a co-housing structure as a transitional measure towards housing independence. Establishment of a housing autonomy fund to provide additional financial support to refugees and protection holders. This includes assistance with rent payments, advance deposits, utility costs, and other expenses related to securing independent housing.
- Strengthening of competences in terms of rights and duties related to housing and for greater effectiveness in the search for housing independently.
- Promotion of community practices in support of housing inclusion, aimed at mediation of conflicts and awareness of the Right to Housing.
