Sexual exploitation and sexual abuse
SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND SEXUAL ABUSE (SAS) ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE TO HUMANITARIAN PERSONNEL
IT MUST BE CLEAR THAT:
- We must respect the beneficiaries of services with respect and dignity at all times
- Sexual exploitation and abuse threaten the lives of the people we serve and support
- Any kind of request to the beneficiaries in exchange for the provision of services is prohibited
- It is forbidden to ask for sexual favors, sex, money or property to the beneficiaries
- Sexual exploitation and abuse constitute acts of gross negligence and are therefore grounds for dismissal
- Any form of sexual harassment against a colleague/staff member is unacceptable and will not be tolerated
ALL STAFF MUST COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING RULES:
ANY ACT OF A SEXUAL NATURE WITH CHILDREN (PERSONS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE) IS PROHIBITED REGARDLESS OF CONSENT. The misconception about the age of a child does not constitute a defense
THE EXCHANGE OF MONEY, LABOUR, GOODS OR SERVICES WITH SEXUAL SERVICES, including sexual favours or other forms of humiliating, degrading or exploitative behaviour, IS PROHIBITED. This includes the exchange of assistance due to beneficiaries
ANY SEXUAL INTERCOURSE BETWEEN PERSONS PROVIDING HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE AND PROTECTION AND A PERSON RECEIVING SUCH ASSISTANCE, INVOLVING IMPROPER USE OF RANK OR POSITION, SHALL BE PROHIBITED. Such relations undermine the credibility and integrity of humanitarian aid work.
Where a humanitarian operator develops concerns or suspicions about sexual abuse or sexual exploitation by a colleague, whether in the same organisation or not, IT SHALL REPORT such concerns through the reporting mechanisms in place.
Humanitarian workers are obliged to create and maintain an environment that prevents sexual exploitation and abuse and promotes the implementation of the Code of Conduct. Managers at all levels have a particular responsibility to support and to develop systems that maintain this environment.
ALL HUMANITARIAN PERSONNEL MAY REPORT ANY CONCERN OR SUSPICION TO THE SAS FOCAL POINTS OF ANY ORGANISATION, REGARDLESS OF THE LOCATION OF THE INCIDENT

You can report to any organization, directly, anonymously or on behalf of someone else. Reporting sexual exploitation or sexual abuse will NOT prevent you from receiving assistance or cause you to stop providing any services.
